How Girls Impacted By Sandy Were Given Evening Dresses

It's amazing how charitable people can be following a great disaster. While Hurricane Sandy has long since come and went, the effect still lingers and it's shown in the way that people have struggled financially. Choosing evening dresses for the prom is one of those times that should be exciting but these girls have found themselves struggling to look around. However, it seems as if the dream nights of these young ladies may come alive and they will take part in the festivities which they deserve.

7Online.com posted an article about the families within the New Drop area of Staten Island and how they have struggled. It seemed like funds were tight and events which young people were looking forward to - the prom, amongst them - didn't seem as if they were going to happen. That was when Dennis McKeon of the "Where to Turn" organization stepped in so that his services would be offered. This particular organization was the recipient of several dresses beforehand and now they would be supplied to these young ladies.

The organization, as you could imagine, showed a good measure of success. In fact, 150 dresses were supplied and it seems as though 100 more are to be seen. Hurricane Sandy's effect has been long-lasting but does that necessarily mean that people can't act upon it in some way? This story should offer a feel-good vibe and it certainly does that. Thanks to this organization and its efforts, many young girls can attend the prom and they can do so while retaining a sense of style.

A story like this is one that should catch the attention of companies like Estelle's. There's a great deal of charity that has been seen with them. When these ladies thought that they wouldn't have evening dresses, or even a prom, but those worries had vanished before long. These ladies deserve a night where they feel spectacular and the prom offers that. The power of giving has had such a lasting impact and I would say it exceeds that of Sandy, by far.

There's no question that Hurricane Sandy has left a terrible impact on people and it's one of those things that people can't help. However, we do have the ability to rebuild, no matter how long it may take in the long run. Until the time of full recovery comes about, I think it's important to make note of the smaller things in life, since those can leave the best memories with the people. The prom, while seemingly trivial in comparison to this disaster, still means a great deal because it lets people set their problems aside for a time.
