If you were ever to meet me in person, you would immediately label me as a "gun nut." I have a shotgun mounted on the back of my truck, I wear a gun openly on my hip, and I wear nothing but gun t-shirts. I love guns and I cherish my rights as an American citizen to keep and bear arms. Not only am I really supportive of gun rights, but I let everyone know by wearing different gun t-shirts every day. I am a very organized person, so I have different shirts set aside for different occasions.
Hunting and gun ownership usually go hand-in-hand with one another. As a gun owner, I am often in the fields during the prime deer hunting season. I shoot well and bring down my prey with efficient, painless shots. I feel that hunting really lets you understand the power that you wield in your hands as a gun owner, and gives you a certain respect for that power. I have a certain selection of gun t-shirts that I wear when hunting, all themed around the sport. My friends at the deer processing center really get a kick out of them.
If I'm having a night out with the family, I usually wear one of my gun t-shirts that isn't quite so aggressive. Usually, I will wear one of my shirts that feature one of the founding fathers of our country and one of their famous quotes that support gun rights. That way, no one gets overly offended and I don't have to get tied up in a long debate while my poor kids shuffle from one foot to the other with embarrassed looks on their faces. My kids know what our Second Amendment Rights are all about. They don't need to hear me berate some hippy at the mall.
If I'm going out with my close friends, then my gun t-shirts are anything but timid. All of my close friends are really into guns as well, so there's a big circle of support there for me to hook up with. We always like wearing our latest gun t-shirts to our gatherings, but I have to say with a small amount of pride that mine are usually the best. I try to find shirts that both support the 2nd Amendment, and also are downright hilarious. Thanks to the Internet, there are plenty of really good websites out there to choose from.
All in all, I have found that the gun t-shirts that I wear are extremely useful in showing people what I mean when I say, "I believe in gun rights." To be honest, I have actually had some pretty lively discussions that have left me thinking critically about my stance. My mind has never been changed, but I am not so dense as I can not appreciate other people's views. There have also been discussions where I have changed the minds of others. Whatever the outcome, gun t-shirts are a great tool for gun owners.
