Personalized gold necklaces are highly valued not just because of its prestige and beauty but also because it represents wealth, power and high status. So in order to do justice to the innate beauty if these jewelries, you need to properly care for them and make sure that they always look their finest. No matter how expensive your jewelry is, if it is not properly cared for, chances are it will look no different from a cheap necklace. And besides, cleaning and caring for these would not really be a big problem.

Gold, although being a metal, is resistant to corrosion. The metal could also resist discoloration if it is left unused and not cleaned. This makes the metal and ideal material in making luxurious accessories. But with daily use, accessories that are made of this metal could accumulate dirt. This is because the regular activities of an average person could expose these accessories to smoke, sweat, rain, dust, oil, etc. And if these pollutions are left on the surface of these accessories for long periods, it could develop into stains that are hard to remove.

It is a fact that simple stains on surfaces like glass, porcelain, wood, etc. That have hardened are hard to remove. Though gold exhibits a certain degree of resistance to dirt, it could still only take so much and if dirt finally hardened on its surface, it could cause problems. This is because the material is a soft metal that could be abraded by hard materials with ease. And in cleaning dirt in a golden jewelry that is stuck pretty good, rubbing it hard could also scratch it.

But if you are unlucky enough to have missed a stain on your necklace and saw that the dirt has already hardened, do not worry. You could still remove that annoying stain without damaging our accessory in the process.

The easiest solution to a hardened jewelry stain is liquid dish washing soap in warm water. Both the dish washing soap and warm water works to make the stain on your jewelry softer so you could easily remove the dirt on your accessory without rubbing it heavily. Just clean your accessory with a soft material while immersed on the warm water. You could dip the necklace for one minute before cleaning it while still immersed in water to make the hardened dirt softer and easier to remove.

Ammonia is also a popular chemical used in cleaning jewelries. Ammonia works best when made in solution with cold water and the advisable proportion is one part cold water and one part ammonia. Submerge your necklace in the solution for about thirty minutes before gently cleaning it.

If the presented methods do not appeal to you, there are available cleaning agents that are specially formulated to effectively clean jewelries made of precious metals without damaging it or discoloring it. But the best way of maintaining the beauty and elegance of your necklace is to wear it with care and store it properly. You could do this by removing it when you take a bath, or when you are washing clothes, or when you are doing any strenuous activity that could pose accidental damage to your accessory.

You should also give importance in storing personalized gold necklaces since it could sustain scratches if not kept in a suitable container. Make sure that the storage for your jewelries has a soft and smooth lining and provides a compartment for each of your jewelry.
